    Each dish uses simple ingredients & takes minimal effort. From crispy nuggets to creamy mashed potatoes, these toddler food ideas are packed with flavor and nutrition. 

    You can prepare them in advance, making toddler mealtime stress-free.

    Let’s get started with these fun, toddler-friendly potato recipes that your child will love!

    1. Mashed Potato Nuggets

    Mashed Potato Nuggets

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups cooked mashed potatoes
    • ½ cup grated cheese (such as cheddar)
    • ⅔ cup flour
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • Pepper to taste
    • 2 tablespoons chopped chives or spring onions (optional)
    • Olive oil or butter for frying

    Instructions:

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, grated cheese, flour, beaten eggs, salt, pepper, and chives or spring onions if using. Mix until well combined.
    2. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat and add a little olive oil or butter.
    3. Spoon about two tablespoons of the mixture for each nugget into the pan. Using the back of the spoon, gently flatten.
    4. Fry for about 1 minute or until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden.
    5. Remove the potatoes from the pan & drain all of it on paper towels. Serve these mashed potato nuggets warm.

    2. Mashed Potatoes with Broccoli

    Mashed Potatoes with Broccoli

    Ingredients:

    • 1½ pounds Yukon Gold baby potatoes (or similar white or yellow potatoes)
    • 2 cups broccoli florets
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or olive oil
    • ⅓ cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
    • Salt to taste

    Instructions:

    1. Wash and dice the potatoes into small pieces.
    2. Put the potatoes in a big pot and add enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 10 minutes.
    3. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot with the potatoes.
    4. Drain the potatoes and broccoli.
    5. Return the drained potatoes and broccoli to the pot. Add the butter or olive oil, Greek yogurt or sour cream, and salt.
    6. Mash until smooth and well combined. Serve warm.

     3. Cheesy Jacket Potato 

    Cheesy Jacket Potato 

    Ingredients:

    • 1 medium potato (per serving)
    • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
    • 2 tbsp milk (optional for extra creaminess)
    • A pinch of salt

    Instructions:

    1. Wash the potato thoroughly and prick it with a fork a few times.
    2. Microwave on high for 5–7 minutes or bake at 200°C (400°F) for 45 minutes until soft.
    3. Cut the potato in half and scoop out the inside, leaving a thin shell.
    4. Mash the scooped-out potato with butter, cheese, milk, and salt.
    5. Fill the potato skins with the mixture and place back in the oven for 5 minutes until golden.
    6. Let it cool slightly before serving.
